How are trademarks protected in the UAE?

Trademarks in the UAE are protected under Federal Decree-Law No. 36 of 2021 on Trademarks and are registered with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism (MOET).
Once approved and registered, a trademark gives its owner exclusive rights to use it across all seven emirates and the legal right to take action against infringement, counterfeiting, or unauthorised use.
Registration is valid for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed for further 10-year periods.
