In the Netherlands, the official company registration number is issued by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK). It’s called the KvK number (KvK-nummer).

Every registered entity—whether a BV, NV, sole proprietorship, or foundation—gets a unique 8-digit number.
No embedded meaning
Unlike some jurisdictions, the digits do not encode location, entity type, or date. It’s just a sequential identifier.
One per legal entity
Each branch gets a separate establishment number (vestigingsnummer), usually 12 digits.
