What is the difference between a shareholder and a director?

A shareholder of a company is the actual owner who owns a percentage of the equity shares and hence has part ownership of that company. A director on the other hand isn’t an actual owner but the elected representative of the company and its shareholders. The director makes major decisions and company policies.
