The IOSS number is the next step to make the VAT collection process easier for both sellers/marketplaces and customers. Anybody who is offering goods to the countries in the EU from the EU itself or outside the EU needs to have an IOSS number. However, it’s not mandatory to get an IOSS number but relatively gets important to have one.

1. Registering from EU countries-
If you are a marketplace/seller residing in the EU countries themselves, then you have two options in your hand:
- To directly register it with the authorities
- To register through an intermediary
You have two options as discussed above, to directly register it with the authorities and fill in all the necessary details and the authorities will verify it within 2 days of such complete procedure.
And if you choose to get an IOSS number through an intermediary then the process gets a bit easier. ODINT Consulting will take care of everything for you, helping you fill in the necessary details and all the compliances to make the procedure to get an IOSS number, easier for you.
2. Registering from outside of EU countries-
If you are a resident from outside the EU countries, then you only have one option left which is to register through an intermediary. You do not have any other option to register for an IOSS number.
You can choose any of the intermediaries that have been appointed by the authorities to help you throughout the procedure of the IOSS number. The intermediary will guide you throughout the process and check if you are complying with all the necessary guidelines, rules and regulations, and legalities.
And, if you are applying through an intermediary then the country will provide the IOSS number after all the verifications by the authorities, the procedure to get an IOSS number will be then given to the intermediaries. And from then, you can get access to the IOSS number.
If the intermediary is representing many such clients then he’ll be given different IOSS numbers for such people.
But, in both of the cases, the process is quite tedious so it’s better to trust agencies and firms who have expertise in doing so to get your work done faster and easier, and ODINT Consulting is here to do so for you!
